G&M’S National Scope
Although G&M is a boutique law firm, our talented and experienced professionals routinely handle “national” (and often international) matters, and regularly practice in multiple jurisdictions around the country. In fact, as reflected in the interactive map on the full (non-mobile) version of G&M’s website, G&M’s professionals have been involved in cases in every region of the United States.
Pricing & Fees
Although our partners provide the same level of service that they provided for decades at large national and international law firms, at G&M they can now do so at substantially more reasonable and predictable cost. Not only are hourly rates lower, we strive to maximize the return on our clients’ legal spending though proper staffing and effective planning – often at least as important as rates. And in appropriate circumstances, G&M has implemented a variety of alternative fee arrangements to help clients minimize uncertainty and manage cost. Explore below or contact one of our partners for more information.
When G&M is retained on a monthly retainer basis, we agree to handle all of the legal work in a given area or subject matter for a set monthly fee. The purpose of this structure is to provide certainty to our clients, protecting them against fluctuations in their legal costs and ensuring that they are always paying a reasonable rate that is directly tied to their historical usage (typically reducing average monthly costs).
When G&M is retained on a “success fee” or “contingency” basis, we agree to pursue a matter without charging any hourly fees. Instead, we are paid an agreed success fee only if we achieve a successful outcome – with “success” agreed upon on ahead of time. The purpose of this structure is to minimize risk for our clients and to allow meritorious claims to be pursued in situations where funding is limited.
When G&M is retained on a “flat fee” basis, we agree to complete a particular project for a set fee that is agreed upon in advance. The purpose of this structure is to provide certainty to our clients, protecting them against the risk that we have underestimated the time required to complete the task. If it takes longer, our clients don’t pay more. We take the risk.
When G&M is retained on a “blended fee” basis, we agree to provide our services at a reduced hourly rate (or flat fee), and also agree upon a limited success fee to be paid if we are able to achieve a successful outcome. The purpose of this structure – which is really a combination of several structures – is to minimize risk and “out of pocket” costs to our clients in cases where we are unable to agree to a pure success fee.
